Who are the trees?

- Two general categories: hardwoods (angiosperm) like oak, maple, and apple; and softwoods (gymnosperm) like pines, cycads, and Ginkgo.
- Some of the largest living things on earth.
Why do we want trees?
- Trees absorb carbon-dioxide and store carbon.
- Trees release oxygen which we need for our life.
- Trees are the natural habitat of many animals, birds and insects.
- Trees are a source of fruits and flowers.
- Trees provide cooling shade and hold water.
